Three things to consider before you accept a social media brand collaboration
Are you an aspiring influencer, content creator or personal brand that is wanting to expand and monetize your social media?
Brand collaborations are a great way to do that.
But…
Before you jump into a brand partnership, here are three things you should consider before you dive in.
Make sure your interests and values align with whom you choose to partner with.
Will this feel authentic to you, and will it resonate with your audience? Partnering with brands that tie seamlessly into your lifestyle and brand is essential. Not only will it make the content creation process easier, but your community of followers will likely be more inclined to engage with the collaborative content you share.
Is your target audience similar to theirs? Teaming up with brands with a similar audience to yours will benefit both in the partnership! When working with brands that have an audience that is interested in what your brand is about in general, there is a good chance new followers, more engagement and sales can come from working with brands that have a similar target audience.
Have clear expectations. Always set out clear expectations and have a written agreement. Be aware of the timelines, how you will promote, your content deliverables and how you will be paid, whether in products/gifts, cash or commissions.
I hope these tips give you something to think about.
Regardless of who you choose to collaborate with, having clear goals and expectations will help you foster a good relationship with that brand.
