A business owners roadmap to getting started on Instagram
If you’re just getting started on Instagram or are not seeing results, it’s essential to get back to the basics and build a strong foundation for marketing your business on Instagram.
In this post, I am sharing with you seven areas that you should focus on as a business owner to successfully market your brand on Instagram (or any social media platform!)
1. Define your Goals
Be realistic when setting your goals, and know that success on Instagram doesn't happen overnight. Once you set your goals, you can create a strategy that will help you achieve them!
What are your goals?
Brand awareness & visibility?
Lead generation?
Sales & website traffic?
Increasing followers?
2. Who’s your Audience
Having clarity on your target audience is key to attracting more people to your community on Instagram.
Defining your ideal follower will help you create content that resonates with them. Their likes, and dislikes, what they struggle with and how you can help them with your service or product.
The more you understand, the more effective you can be with your content strategy.
3. Optimize your Profile
The online space is busy! If someone lands on your profile, you want them to determine what you do and whom you serve quickly. Avoid industry lingo that the average user wouldn't understand.
Make sure you have:
Welcoming, quality profile image
Keywords in your name field & bio to boost searchability
CTA & Website link
Story highlights that share valuable information about your business.
Content that speaks to your audience
A branded feed that is easily recognizable by staying consistent with your other social platforms and Website.
4. Design a Content Strategy
Your content should be created to attract, nurture and build authority within your community. Your content should also be promoting & selling your offers.
Create content pillars that will help you navigate your brand's core topics and values.
Incorporate all different forms of content to help increase the reach and interest of your brand.
Create content with a purpose- is to foster connections? Promote growth? Sell your offer?
Set a content schedule that keeps you consistent.
5. Create an Engagement Strategy
Instagram engagement helps your account get visible, promotes growth, and builds connections with your community of followers. It's the social part of social media.
Start local & grow outwards
local businesses
community organizations
local influencers, bloggers
How?
Leave meaning comments
Engage daily with new accounts & your followers
Interact through story replies
Engage with others in your industry
Reply to all your comments & DM's
6. Create a Sales Strategy
Yes, you should SELL on Instagram! You have a business, not a hobby.
Promote your products/services through your bio, highlights, and content.
Through your content show how your product/service helps your ideal client.
Share client wins, transformations, and testimonials.
Use UGC to increase brand awareness and have others promote your offers.
Collaborate with others for maximum exposure.
7. What makes your brand stand out?
YOU. Being the face of your brand and consistently showing up for your community.
Being authentic.
Sharing value through your original content.
Incorporating all forms of video content into your strategy.
Exploring brand collaborations.
Being intentional with how you interact with your community of followers.
Remember success takes time and experimenting. Don't lose sight of your goals or get discouraged if interactions are low. Hone in on your content, make changes, be flexible and have patience!
